Uffizi, 44 marble busts ever seen

Uffizi gallery (Samuli Lintula)An exhibition at Uffizi gallery shows 44 marble busts that make up the series “‘Caesars in marble”, most beautiful and impressive portrtaits of Roman collection. Besides the selection of busts are presented 23 works (paintings and graphics), portraits and self portrtaits, which shows how great was the interest in the Old-age even in modern age.

From tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 15, to January 29, 2012, in the Hall of the Royal Post Office, the Uffizi host the eleventh edition of  “The never seen”, promoted by Friends of Uffizi (the association that supports the cultural policies since 1993 in the Florentine museum) in conjunction with the Gallery of Florence. The exposure brings attention to the rich heritage of classical art, selecting a group of portraits of republican and imperial age. The selected works are masterpieces mentioned in any manual of Roman art.
