It is the day of mourning in Florence after the killing of two Senegalese and woundings of others three in the raid concluded with the suicide of the killer, Gianluca Casseri, a neo-fascist writer and novelist.
The official web site of the Municipality of Florence announces the mourning with the phrase “The city of Florence shows its solidarity with the Senegalese community”, written also in Italian and French.
Today the minister for integration Andrea Riccardi will be in city. Mayor Renzi will reunite the municipal employee in Palazzo Vecchio at 12 am in order to commemorate the victims.
A lot of flowers is deposited this morning in piazza Dalmazia, in the place in which the two Senegalese are killed. In San Lorenzo market, where the raid of Casseri has been concluded, there are solidarity with the Senegalese community.
“Not to racism” is signed on the shops that today will remain closed some hours in order to respect the city mourning. But the Senegalese community has still fear and has organized for saturday afternoon a protest march in which will ask more safety.
