Fiorentina have ended their Serie A season with a 0-0 draw against Cagliari Calcio at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Fiorentina’s wretched run at home continued after they ended their season with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Cagliari. It was the last act of what can only be described as a tragedy in the Classical sense as Fiorentina saw out a dismal, pathetic season with a lackluster 0-0 tie with Cagliari this afternoon.

Fiorentina is safe after the nightmare week
Fiorentina put their nightmare week behind them with a 1-0 victory at Lecce to secure their place in Serie A next season and Roma dropped points at Catania. Alessio Cerci scored the only goal of the game 10 minutes before the break, slotting home from the left side of the box after latching onto Ruben Olivera’s through ball.
Fiorentina trainer Rossi attacks Ljajic, fired
Fiorentina coach Delio Rossi was fired after attacking central midfielder Adem Ljajic during his side’s 2-2 draw with Novara. An incredible episode, that took place at the “Franchi” stadium. At the 32nd minute, with the visitors ahead 2-0, Delio Rossi decided to take out Ljajic for Olivera, the young Fiorentina striker sat down on the bench and then with a gesture provoked the reaction of the coach, who hurled himself at Ljajic starting a small dust up which was fortunately ended quickly.
Fiorentina’s fight to stay in Serie A continues
Atalanta beat Fiorentina 2-0 this afternoon at the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia in Bergamo. Goals from German Denis in the 11th minute and Giacomo Bonaventura in the 51st gave the hosts all three points, while Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic had a second-half penalty saved by Andrea Consigli. The result means that Atalanta are mathematically safe, while Fiorentina’s fight to stay in Serie A continues.
Season’s end for Fiorentina’s Amauri
Fresh out of their away win against AS Roma, Fiorentina have to contend with several key players’ injuries. Subbing for Cerci 9 minutes into the second half, Italian-Brazilian midfielder Amauri suffered an abductor tendon lesion. With a 3-week prognosis ahead of him, Amauri is therefore off the cards until season’s end. Placing their hopes in Amauri to avert relegation, Fiorentina also have to contend with Cerci’s injury.

Another match up this morning as Fiorentina held Inter scoreless and moved another point closer to salvation. At the same time Inter Milan’s Champions League qualification hopes slipped further away following a 0-0 draw at Fiorentina on Sunday. And it could have been worse as Fiorentina missed a penalty in a lacklustre affair.

First goal of Amauri, Fiorentina to win at Milan
AC Milan allowed a 90th-minute goal by Fiorentina striker Amauri to lose 2-1 at home on Saturday. Milan took the lead with a penalty from Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 31st at the San Siro but Stevan Jovetic equalized in the 47th after taking advantage of a Milan defensive lapse. Amauri then finished off an exchange with Jovetic for his first goal since transferring from Juventus in January.
Defeated by Chievo, Fiorentina goes to hell
An initially silent Artemio Franchi stadium grew increasingly loud as Fiorentina was defeated by Chievo at home. The match made for a poor spectacle as the gameplay was tense and the result means trouble for Fiorentina who are now fourth to last with a mere 5 point advantage over Lecce. In the second half Liajic scored the equalizer from a well executed free kick, but 88 minutes in Rigoni scored the winning goal off an assist by Paloschi.
ACF Fiorentina: Corvino’s contract expires
ACF Fiorentina wishes to announce that, in agreement with the director, Pantaleo Corvino’s contract as technical and sporting director will not be renewed once it expires. Fiorentina announces that the first team will stay in Montecatini from Tuesday 20 March until departing for Liguria ahead of next Sunday’s Serie A match against Genoa, in order to find the maximum concentration to prepare properly for the game.
