Comment Policy

At Florence Daily News, we welcome thoughtful and respectful conversation. Whether you’re engaging on our website or through our social media channels, we ask that all participants contribute in a way that is constructive, civil, and relevant.

On our website

All comments submitted through our website are moderated before publication. This means they are reviewed by our editorial team to ensure they meet the standards outlined below.

Moderation is carried out as promptly as possible, based on editorial workflow and availability. We strive to ensure timely review, but publication may be delayed depending on our team’s capacity.

On social media

On platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and others, comments are not pre-moderated, but are regularly monitored. We reserve the right to hide, delete, or report any comment that violates our policy, and to block users who repeatedly break the rules. You can find links to all our social media channels in the top-right corner of the site header — visible on every post and page.

What we allow:

  • Respectful opinions, even when critical.

  • Personal experiences that contribute meaningfully to the discussion.

What we do not allow:

  • Hate speech, discrimination, or stereotyping based on race, gender, nationality, religion, disability, or sexual orientation.
  • Personal attacks, insults, threats, or harassment.
  • Misinformation or conspiracy theories.
  • Trolling, provocation, or intentional disruption.
  • Spam, advertising, or irrelevant self-promotion.

Additional notes

We do not respond publicly to offensive or inflammatory comments, especially when doing so might give them more visibility. Comments that fall into a “gray area” may be left unapproved or held for internal review.

Let’s keep it civil
