“Maggio” for the victims of the earthquake in Tokyo

Maggio musicaleAfter lived in first person during the tour (later suspended) last year, the tragedy of Japan devastated by the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear contamination, the musicians of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino support the victims of the catastrophe.

“Meet the soloist” is a calendar of concerts featuring the soloists of Florentine orchestra. Part of the proceeds of the evenings will be devolved to Affinis Art Foundation in Tokyo and for restoration of the city of Sendai, hard hit by the earthquake. Another part of the collection of concerts will be devoted to Meyer Children’s Hospital.

There will be 30 concerts, most in the Cherubini academy in Florence, from this month until December. First appointment, January 30, will take place with the performance of the trio Luca Benucci (horn solo), Domenico Pierini (solo violin) and Andrea Severi (piano solo). At the end of the concerts it will also made an audio CD.

The initiative was born in a collaboration between Seventh Muse cultural association, the foundation of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the City of Florence.
