At least 18 flights across Europe were affected by bomb threats on Thursday, November 5, 2026, including six services arriving in or departing from Italy, according to reports from aviation authorities and airlines cited by international media.
None of the reported incidents involved Florence or Pisa airports in Tuscany. The alerts mainly affected low-cost airlines and routes connecting Italy, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and other European countries.
According to Italian news website, none of the threats had been confirmed as genuine at the time of reporting.
Six flights involving Italy
The six flights connected to Italy included four services involving Milan Malpensa Airport and two involving Rome Fiumicino Airport.
A Wizz Air flight from Milan Malpensa to Warsaw (W46387) was diverted to Vienna, while an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome Fiumicino (EI402) was diverted to the Évreux military airbase, west of Paris.
The other affected services were a Wizz Air flight from Milan Malpensa to Bucharest (W43064), an Aegean Airlines flight from Thessaloniki to Milan Malpensa (A3552), a Ryanair flight from Porto to Milan Malpensa (FR8953) and a Finnair flight from Helsinki to Rome Fiumicino (AY1761).
Alerts reported across Europe
Additional threats were reported on flights connecting Helsinki with Vienna, Madrid and Copenhagen with Sofia, Warsaw with Brussels, and London Stansted with Sofia. The Stansted flight, operated by Ryanair, was diverted to Plovdiv in Bulgaria.
Four aircraft heading to Prague were also reportedly affected, according to AFP. The services were operated by Ryanair, easyJet and Sky Express, although their departure airports were not specified.
Spanish airport authorities were also cited in reports concerning three aircraft that landed in Madrid.
The incidents follow a series of similar alerts earlier in the week. On Tuesday, ten flights were reportedly targeted by bomb threats that subsequently proved false. On Monday, a Wizz Air flight from London Luton to Sofia was diverted to Budapest following another bomb alert.
No reported incidents at Florence or Pisa airports
As of Thursday afternoon, neither Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport nor Pisa’s Galileo Galilei Airport had been identified among the airports involved in the reported threats.
The two airports are Tuscany’s main international air gateways, serving residents, tourists and business travellers.
Passengers travelling through other European airports, particularly Milan and Rome, should check the latest status of their flights directly with their airlines, as security procedures and diversions may affect individual services.
The situation remains subject to updates as aviation authorities assess the alerts.
