Tuscany’s Wine Previews Face Trump Tariff Uncertainty

Over 100 Americans rally in Florence for No Kings protest

Around a hundred people gathered in Piazza dei Gondi, beside Palazzo Vecchio, to take part in the second global day of protest called “No Kings.” The demonstration was organized by the progressive groups Good Trouble Firenze and Women’s March Florence, both made up of American activists living in Tuscany.

The event was held in solidarity with millions of people mobilizing across the United States and abroad against what organizers describe as “the increasingly violent and corrupt authoritarianism” of Donald Trump’s administration.

Similar demonstrations took place in Rome, Bologna, Milan, Venice, Turin, as well as in major cities around the world including Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, London, Paris, Berlin, Dublin, and Barcelona.

Mary Bythell, co-founder of Indivisible Abroad, said that many Americans living overseas “feel their borders and democracies threatened by Trump or Putin, or are witnessing the rise of the far right.” She added that this global movement reflects “a growing urgency to stand up against the abuse of power taking place in our own country.”
