Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci have chosen the quiet beauty of southern Tuscany for their Italian getaway. The internationally acclaimed director and actress recently purchased a home in Palazzone, a tiny hamlet nestled within the municipality of San Casciano dei Bagni, in the province of Siena.
Surrounded by vineyards and the gentle slopes of Monte Cetona, Palazzone is a hidden gem where nature plays the leading role. With only a handful of houses, the village offers privacy and tranquility—qualities that have clearly won over the celebrity couple, who were first spotted strolling hand-in-hand through the area last August.
The property, previously owned by an English family, now marks a new chapter in the life of this charming Tuscan corner. But their interest in the area doesn’t stop at real estate. Just recently, Burton and Bellucci were seen visiting an art gallery in nearby Cetona. It was a casual visit, though it didn’t go unnoticed—just like their earlier appearance at the historic Collegiata during the summer.
A creative power couple
Tim Burton is known worldwide for his unique cinematic style, often blending gothic imagery with fantasy and dark humor. His filmography includes cult classics such as Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Big Fish, and several adaptations of Alice in Wonderland. Over the decades, his imaginative vision has made him one of the most recognizable and influential directors in contemporary cinema.
Monica Bellucci, one of Italy’s most celebrated actresses, has enjoyed an international career spanning both European and Hollywood productions. She gained fame through roles in films such as Malèna, Irreversible, The Matrix Reloaded, The Passion of the Christ, and Spectre, where she became the oldest “Bond girl” in the franchise’s history. Known for her elegance and versatility, Bellucci continues to work in both film and theater, while remaining a prominent figure in global fashion and culture.
A favorite among artists and creatives
Burton and Bellucci are the latest in a growing list of public figures who have fallen for the region’s charm. Over the years, San Casciano dei Bagni and its surroundings have attracted a number of Italian actors and writers, including Sergio Castellitto and Margaret Mazzantini, Claudio Amendola and Francesca Neri, Sabrina Ferilli and Flavio Cattaneo, Alessandro Gassman, and Cristiana Capotondi.
This southern edge of the Siena province, already internationally renowned for the thermal springs and archaeological discoveries at the Bagno Grande, continues to enchant visitors from all walks of life. Even journalist Gianpaolo Pansa, a long-time admirer of the area, chose San Casciano for his final farewell in 2020.
Whether for a weekend escape or a permanent retreat, San Casciano dei Bagni remains one of Tuscany’s most evocative and elegant destinations—now with two more famous residents who seem ready to embrace its timeless charm.
