Jasmine Paolini Honored with Pegaso d’Oro

Italian tennis star Jasmine Paolini has been awarded the prestigious Pegaso d’Oro, the highest honor granted by the Tuscany Region. The award ceremony took place at the Circolo dei Forestieri in Bagni di Lucca, where the president of the region, Eugenio Giani, personally handed over the recognition to Paolini in celebration of her outstanding achievements in the sport.

“Jasmine has won the Olympic gold medal in doubles at the Paris 2024 Games alongside Sara Errani, reached the finals at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, triumphed at the WTA 1000 in Dubai, and secured victory in the Billie Jean King Cup with the Italian national team,” Giani stated. “From Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, where she was born, to the tennis courts of TC Mirafiume in Bagni di Lucca, where her talent emerged, Jasmine has reached the pinnacle of success through teamwork, passion, dedication, determination, and respect for her opponents.”

Born on January 4, 1996, in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Jasmine Paolini has established herself as one of Italy’s greatest tennis players. She has won two singles titles on the WTA Tour, including the prestigious WTA 1000 event in Dubai in 2024, and six doubles titles. Her Grand Slam performances have been remarkable, reaching the singles finals at both the French Open and Wimbledon in 2024, making her the only Italian female player to have contested two Grand Slam finals in two different Major tournaments.

Paolini’s partnership with Sara Errani also brought her significant success in doubles, reaching the final of the French Open and, most notably, securing Italy’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in tennis at the Paris 2024 Games. Additionally, she played a key role in leading the Italian national team to victory in the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup.

Her accomplishments have placed her among the top figures in Italian tennis history. She has ended two seasons as Italy’s number one player and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4, matching Francesca Schiavone as the highest-ranked Italian female player in history. In doubles, she has reached a career-best ranking of No. 9.

With an extraordinary career still unfolding, Jasmine Paolini continues to inspire young athletes and represent Tuscany and Italy with pride on the international stage.
