FLORENCE, ITALY – The Italian Touring Club (TCI) awarded its Orange Flag for tourism excellence to 227 Italian borghi for the three-year period from 2018 to 2020.
Tuscany is the “most orange” region in Italy (with 38 awards), followed by Piedmont (28) and Marche (21).
There are 19 new entries who will flank Italy’s world-famous borghi. They are: Gressoney Saint Jean for Valle d’Aosta; Agliè, Chiusa di Pesio, Gavi and Ozzano Monferrato for Piedmont; Almenno San Bartolomeo, Bellano and Pizzighettone for Lombardy; Maniago and San Vito al Tagliamento for Friuli Venezia Giulia; Santa Fiora for Tuscany; Frontino and Serra San Quirico for Marche; Fara San Martino, Lama dei Peligni and Opi for Abruzzo; Aliano for Basilicata; and Oriolo and Taverna for Calabria.
