Join the Florentine new year parade on March 25

FLORENCE, ITALY – Florence celebrate its new year on March 25 with a historical parade.

On this date from the Middle Ages the Church has always celebrated the Incarnation Announcement received from the Virgin Mary (nine months before the birth of Jesus). Even Pisa and Siena celebrate this tradition in Tuscany.

The event is commemorated with a historical parade that starts from the palace of the Guelph and arrives at the Santissima Annunziata, where the people of the countryside made pilgrimages to pay homage to the sacred effigy of the Madonna.

The parade of the Florentine Republic will depart at 2.45 PM from Piazzetta di Parte Guelfa, along this route: P.tta di Parte Guelfa, via Pellicceria, via Porta Rossa and via Calimala, piazza della Repubblica, via degli Speziali, via Calzaioli, piazza del Duomo , via deì Servi, piazza Santissima Annunziata.

At 3.30 PM the procession enters in the Basilica and will pay tribute to the Chapel of antissina Annunziata..

At 4 PM departure of the return march to the Palazzo di Parte Guelfa: piazza Santissima Annunziata, via de’ Servi, piazza del Duomo, via Calzaioli; via Por Santa Maria, piazza del Mercato Nuovo, via Porta Rossa and via Pellicceria, piazzetta di Parte Guelfa. Arrival expected at 4.30 PM.
