FLORENCE, ITALY – The 91st edition of Pitti Uomo marks a step forward in the fair’s evolution. It will take place at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy from January 10 to January 13, 2016.

With its events and continually changing geography, Pitti Uomo captures the new vibrations of fashion and transforms them into original projects.

The program of special events for January will further overcome the duality between fair and fashion week, moving towards new formats that combine stylistic research, communication and market authenticity.

The protagonists will be the great traditional firms that are projecting themselves towards the future, the new fashion design talents and the brands that are on the way up, right up to the new worlds of menswear, even in a geographical sense.

And then there is the participation of the big international brands at the Fortezza, the debut of sections like HI Beauty – dedicated to the world of fragrances and personal care, and all the microcosms that portray the styles and the souls of men’s fashion today.

Pitti 91 hosts 1,220 brands and collections, 540 of which from abroad (44% of the total),  210 new names and reentries .

The exhibition space si about 60,000 square metres, 36,000 visitors are expected, with over 24,800 buyers,  8,800 of which (35,5% of the total) from abroad. The main foreign markets represented are Germany, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom, Turkey, Netherlands, France, China, Switzerland, Belgium, United States, South Korea, Austria, Russia, Sweden.

On 9 January 2017, in Palazzo Pitti, the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana will present the pre-opening event of Pitti Uomo 91, the inauguration of the photographic exhibition Fashion in Florence through the lens of Archivio Foto Locchi: 100 extremely rare photographs ranging from the 1930s to the 1970 which tell the story of fashion in Florence, a project which is the result of the meeting between the Archivio Storico Foto Locchi, the director of the Gallerie degli Uffizi, Eike Schmidt, the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana and the Gruppo Editoriale.

Sir Paul Smith, the icon of Brit style with its union of heritage, pop inspiration and eclecticism, has chosen Pitti Uomo 91 as the stage for the special event on which to launch the PS by Paul Smith collection.  The designer’s contemporary line presents an original fusion between luxury design and performance effects, techno fabrics and ergonomic cuts.  Paul Smith is the Pitti Immagine Special Guest for January and will be realizing a special fashion installation for the occasion at the Dogana.

The big internationa brands choose Pitti Uomo as the platform for the worldwide launch of their lifestyle projects. They are big international names. Z Zegna, one of the most important made in Italy firms in the world, returns to Pitti Uomo for the official premiere of the collection designed by Alessandro Sartori, the new creative director, who expresses his unique style through a setting specially created for the occasion.

Tommy Hilfiger, the iconic American brand comes to Pitti Uomo for the first time and will present a precise selection of the Fall 2017 men’s collections inside an extraordinary installation in the Sala Ottagonale heavily inspired by innovation and digital technology.

And, in addition to the special event, Paul Smith will also be present at the Fortezza da Basso, in the Sala delle Colonne, with the PS by Paul Smith collection and a dedicated layout concept.
