New museum of fashion created in Florence

FLORENCE, ITALY – A new Museum of Fashion and Costume was created in Florence with the signature of the agreement between the management of the Uffizi Gallery and Pitti Immagine Discovery, the foundation including Pitti Immagine and the CFMI, the Florentine center for Italian fashion.

The new museum will officially open with an exhibit of photos shot by iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, which will open on June 14 during the Pitti Uomo international trade fair, through October 23, 2016.

The objective is to start a three-year program of events dedicated to contemporary fashion. The museum will also host an exhibit in 2017 showcasing the gallery’s archives, organizers said.
