FLORENCE, ITALY – Inter Milan beat AS Roma 1-0 at the San Siro on Saturday to overtake the visitors and go joint top of Serie A alongside Fiorentina. Inter have 24 points from 11 games thanks to Gary Medel’s first half-strike, one more than Roma, who wasted an array of chances to equalise.
Fiorentina also have 24 points after demolishing promoted Frosinone 4-1 on Sunday. Fourth-placed Napoli missed the chance to join the pacesetters as they were held to 0-0 draw at Genoa.
Struggling champions Juventus steadied the ship after last week’s shock defeat to Sassuolo, beating city rivals Torino 2-1 to move up to 10th place. AC Milan continued their recovery from a poor start, thumping Lazio 3-1 in Rome to climb to sixth place with 19 points.
