Dante’s 750th anniversary at the Malta Library

FLORENCE, ITALY – The Maltese national library and the Italian Culture Institute in La Valletta have united to celebrate together the 750th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s birth with a bibliographic exhibition.

The exhibition is hosted in the reading room of the National Library and it was inaugurated on September 24 with Maltese Minister of Education and Labour Evarist Bartolo and Italian Ambassador Giovanni Umberto De Vito in attendance.

Among the most precious pieces the public will be able to admire, there is an edition of the Divine Comedy, belonging to the Maltese National Library, dated 1502 and printed in the tipography of Venetian esteemed publisher and tipographer Aldo Manuzio; a rare edition (1506) published in the tipography of the Giunti family in Florence and two editions of the Convivio dating back to the sixteenth century.
