#CharlieHebdo, tighter controls at the Tower of Pisa

FLORENCE, ITALY – Security services and controls strengthened around the Tower of Pisa after the terrorist attacks in Paris. A recent video message accompanied by images recorded by ISIS made showed the Pisan monument, without a specific threat.

On Monday, a meeting of the Provincial committee for order and public security with the prefect Attilio Visconti will take stock of the situation. The objective is to keep guard up without panic or islamophobic and xenophobic reactions. Until now the police have not reported particular situations for the safety of the Piazza dei Miracoli, where the Tower of Pisa is located.

Friday January 9, 2015 Premier Matteo Renzi tweeted that he will join President Francois Hollande in Paris on Sunday January 11, 2015, when a rally in support of Charlie Hebdo satirical weekly will be held in the wake of a terrorist attack. “We won’t let fear change who we are,” the premier tweeted in French after local media reported at least four hostages died in a kosher supermarket in Vincennes near Paris.

Gunman Amedy Coulibaly killed them before special forces stormed in, BFM TV reported. Separately, the Kouachi brothers were killed after an hours-long siege when they came out firing from a printworks in Dammartin-en-Goele.

The double hostage crisis followed Wednesday’s terrorist attack on the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo satirical weekly that left 12 people dead, including four of France’s leading cartoonists and two police officers.

Italy’s foreign ministry has issued a travel advisory. “We recommend exercising maximum caution when traveling,” the ministry website said Friday January 9, 2015. Finally, war on freedom looks to be online too. Hacker collective Anonymous tweeted a video statement titled We Are All Charlie with the hashtag #OpCharlieHebdo, declaring war on jihadist sites. “We will attack and shut them down,” the they said.
