FLORENCE, ITALY – The Aquila Theatre Company to announce a performance of Shakespeare’s The Tempest at Villa La Pietra on Thursday August 7, 2014 at 9 pm for one night only.
Shakespeare’s last masterpiece takes us on a journey with Prospero, who nearing the end of his life, must come to terms with his past and say goodbye to what he holds most dear.
Shakespeare majestically uses the power of art and magic to weave together Prospero’s two very distinct worlds. One world he knows and fears and the other, which he has come to know and love.
Aquila Theatre uses its signature physical approach and an original score to illuminate the magical world of “The Tempest.” Aquila’s production dives headlong into the interdependent relationship of a father and daughter who have only each other, and the difficulty he has in realizing she is no longer a child and he must let her go. The play explores the impact of isolation, and the effects of colonization.
This aesthetically arresting production will take place under the stars at the beautiful Teatrino at La Pietra.
