FLORENCE, ITALY – Jorge Lorenzo took a victory at the Mugello circuit, Florence, Italy, leading from the first turn till the finish. This win extended his lead in the championship to 19 points over second placed Dani Pedrosa.
The race started with Pedrosa entering turn one in the lead, but he ran wide in the long right hand sweeper leaving a gap for Lorenzo to squeeze through.
This was all the invitation Lorenzo needed and he took the lead and never looked back. It was now up to Pedrosa and the rest to try and chase him down.
Stefan Bradl and Dovizioso had a exciting battle for the last place of the podium throughout the race and were joined on the last lap by a charging Nicky Haden with Valentino Rossi and Cal Crutchlow in tow.
The championship now has Lorenzo in the lead with 185 points, closely followed by Dani Pedrosa on 166 points and a fading Stoner on 148 points.
