Uffizi visitors, highest number ever

The Uffizi Gallery in Florence beats his record for the visitors in a year: in 2011 were 1.766.000, the highest number ever in the history of the museum.

The record numers was comunicated by the director of the Uffizi, Antonio Natali: “The previous record was in 2006 and there was more than 1,600,000 visitors. In 2011 we exceeded by more than one hundred thousand united”.

The year 2011 was important for the museum because there were the first step for the new Uffizi. In the fact, from Tuesday December 20 were unveiled the first exhibition halls of the New Uffizi. The new rooms are designed to accommodate masterpieces of Spanish, French, Flemish and Dutch artists. The rooms are accessible from the gallery down to the Scale of the West, curated by Adolfo Natalini.
