Not only museums, all the exhibitions in the city

During the Holidays there are many exhibitions and shows taking place in Florence, Italy.

There are three exhibitions at the Galleria degli Uffizi. “L’Italia chiamò” shows the great moral and patriotic issues after the unification of Italy. The exhibition will run until January 15. Russian and Tuscany Art  in the exhibition “”La maestà del Museo Puskin di Mosca”, the exhibition will run until January 8. The third exhibit is “Dante illustrato. Paesaggi per la Divina Commedia” with 64 photographs taken to illustrate the issue of the divine comedy of 1898. The exhibition will run until 26 February.

Two exhibitions can be visited at Palazzo Strozzi. “Denaro e Bellezza. I banchieri, Botticelli e il rogo delle vanita” (Money and Beauty. Bankers, Botticelli and the burning of the vanities) exposes one hundred works of great artists, including Botticelli, Fra Angelico, Piero del Pollaiuolo, Della Robbia and Andrea del Verrocchio. The exhibition will run until 22 January. The exhibition “Declining Democracy” is a reflection on contemporary art through the current national and international situation of democracy in Western Countries. The exhibition will run until 22 January.

In the offices of Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze there is the exhibition “Soldatini e banconote per raccontare la storia dell’ Unità d’Italia”, little soldiers and currencies to tell the story of the Unification of Italy.  The exhibition will run until 28 February. In the same place there is also the permanent exhibition “Homage to Vasari,” which exhibits six works by the artist, owned by the banking foundation, shown for the first time.

The Baptistery is home to the “Russian Icon” three precious icons come from the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, never returned in a church  after becoming museum pieces after the revolution of 1917. The exhibition is open until March 19.

In the Pitti Palace there is the exhibition “The beautiful Italy”: 300 works to tell the story and the art of the Italian capitals including Rome and Florence. The exhibition will run until February 12, 2012.

At the Museum of Santa Maria del Fiore is on show “Elia Dalla Costa, the man and the image” with works by Antonio Berti, Oskar Kokoschka and Luciano Guarnieri. The exhibition is open until April 15.

At the Basilica of Santa Croce is showing “The bridge of images”, seven copies of Byzantine frescoes housed in three Serbian monasteries. The exhibition will run until November 30.

At the Medici Riccardi Palace and visit the exhibition “Garibaldi was wounded … The doctor Zannetti Ferdinand (1801-1881): home, culture, science,” which tells the life of the doctor famous for having removed the bullet from the foot of Giuseppe Garibaldi . The exhibition is open until January 31, 2012.

At the Rose Garden is currently a permanent exhibition of “Folon”: 12 sculptures by Belgian artist on display in the garden.

Finally, at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum there is the  exhibition “Salvatore Ferragamo. Inspirations and visions”, dedicated to the history and work of Salvatore Ferragamo. The exhibition will run until March 12.
