The Prado Museum has disclosed the finding of a replica of Leonardo da Vinci’s Gioconda. The replica was allegedly painted by one of the Italian genius’ favourite pupils, either Andrea Salari or Francesco Melzi. Leonardo’s pupil completed the picture as his master completed the Gioconda, in the same studio in Florence, Italy.

Italy-Kuwait association, mission for the elections
Kuwait’s Ministry of Information has invited a delegation from the Italy-Kuwait Association to the capital, Kuwait City, to monitor the final stage of the election campaign and the parliamentary elections. The Florence-based association has announced that the mission is ended yesterday.

Snow and ice in Florence over the centuries
This winter is one of the coldest in decades. But snow and ice have been “regular” events in the history of Florence. There are books that tell snowfall since the Middle Ages. Giorgio Vasari wrote about Piero de’ Medici, the son of Lorenzo the Magnificent. He asked to Michelangelo to do “a statue that was beautiful” in the courtyard of his palace after the “big snow” of 1493.
Madonna will rock Florence in June
The American popstar Madonna rocks the Super Bowl halftime show last night in Indianapolis. Today it was announced officially that she will be in concert in Florence, Italy, next summer.

The temperatures of the night have been below zero throughout all the province of Florence, Italy. According to the weather forecasts a weak snowfall is expected for tomorrow in Tuscany and Florence. On Friday weather forecasts indicate a strong enhancement of the snow.

Skiing in Tuscany, it’s the right time
This week the snow has covered almost all of Tuscany. Temperatures are still very cold, below zero, but the snow of these days is perfect for skiing. Tuscany is a great region for winter sports. Abetone (Pistoia), just a couple of hours by car from Florence, is the most famous place for skiing and snowboarding.
