Amerigo’s America opens Wednesday in NYC

Archbishop Betori elevated Cardinal
Pope Benedict XVI has inducted 22 new Catholic churchmen into the elite club of cardinals. Florence Archbishop Giuseppe Betori was among those who were officially elevated to the new role. Betori, 65 next saturday, was Secretary General of the CEI from April 2001 to October 2008 and appointed archbishop of the Tuscan city in September 2008.
Vino nobile, 34 companies will join the preview
Stronger than the snow, which had never fallen so abundant until the eve of the event, the “Vino Nobile di Montepulciano” preview is ready to offer its intense script. It will be staged from Saturday February, 18 to Monday, February 20 (11 am to 6 pm). Thousands of business professionals, restaurateurs and wine-stores will arrive in Montepulciano, while international press will have its highlight on Thursday 23.

Florence to host World road championships
Florence will host the 2013 world road championships. The UCI Management Committee announced the awarding of the event to the Italian city last September. “By the end of February, the Italian government will confer the status of Major event to the competition,” yesterday the head of Tuscany’s budget department, Riccardo Nencini, has announced.
