Danza in Fiera is one of the top dance festivals both in Italy. The seventh annual will be held from Feb 23 to 26 at Florence’s Fortezza da Basso. The dance festival includes some of the best and most popular items from last years, as well as brand-new ideas and initiatives to thrill festival-goers.
Danza in Fiera is in Europe the only one event gathering for four days all dance businesses, training and artistic sectors, ranging from classical ballet to contemporary, from modern to tango, from hip hop to Latin dancing, from country to musical and from ethnic dancing to tribal and waltz.
Danza in Fiera offers booths of dance apparel, fitness fashion, sport and wellness products but also areas dedicated to dance studios, dance groups and associations; shows with national and international dance performers ; free classes, masterclasses with famous dancers and masters; meetings, workshops, talk shows, exhibitions all about dancing; contests and competitions; castings and auditions to become a real professional dancer.
In six editions, from 2006 to 2011, Danza in Fiera has reached outstanding results, with an original mix, that joins harmoniously business and artistic aspects. The first and biggest international dance event where everyone can find all dance world’s best for every dancing style: 250.000 visitors, 25.000 dancers and 1.200 dance studios on stage, 400 shows and performances, 50 castings and auditions, 15 national and international contests and competitions, more than 3.000 professional visitors and dance studios, meetings, workshops, talk shows and exhibitions.
Among the many events planned, it’s worth taking note of Expression , the famous Danza in Fiera competition. Other dance competitions taking place include the Campionati Italiani Assoluti Professionisti IDC-ANMB and the ANMB Cup, as well as the WDC World Cup – Amateur League.
Many top names for the international world of dance will be performing as part of the festival such as Polina Semionova, Jason Beital (choreographer of the British version of The X-Factor), Beatrice Libonati (soloist from the Pina Bausch cande company) and Yugson (four-time winner of the Just Debout award) . Festival-goers will also be able to take lessons in in all kinds of dance. Dance teachers will be treated to a series of lectures and seminars organised by the Saint Petersburg Vaganova Academy. There will also be a Wellness Area with experts offering advice on pilates, gyrotonic, feldenkrais, yoga, fletcher pilates and tai chi.
Opening hours: Thursday 3pm – 9pm, Friday and Saturday 10am – 9pm, Sunday 10am – 8pm. Ticket price: 15 euros (one day), 40 euros (four days). Free entry for children under 8 years of age, disabled. Reduced ticket for children 8/12 years of age: 10 euros.
