Tuscany upgrades regional digital portal with new AI-powered services

The Regione Toscana will roll out new features on its digital portal me.toscana.it starting 15 February, expanding the range of personalised services available to residents across the region.

The portal, designed to bring together information and public services in one place, includes an AI-based conversational chatbot currently known as “Chiedilo a Me” (“Ask Me”). The system is intended to guide users through regional procedures and provide tailored information based on individual profiles.

With the latest update, users will be able to access online payment services for a range of regional fees, including vehicle tax (bollo auto), hunting and fishing licences, and some healthcare-related charges. The platform will also allow citizens to view their outstanding payments directly in the notifications area of their personal account.

Another new feature is the integration with GeA (Gestionale Ambientale), the Region of Tuscany’s official digital system for submitting and managing applications related to Environmental Impact Assessments. This connection is expected to simplify access to environmental procedures for both citizens and professionals.

According to regional president Eugenio Giani, the project aims to make public administration more transparent and easier to use, while strengthening the impact of regional policies on daily life.

The regional councillor for digital innovation and simplification said the goal is to reduce fragmented information and bureaucratic complexity by creating a single, responsive digital ecosystem that adapts to citizens’ needs through artificial intelligence.

In the coming weeks, the Region will also launch a public contest open to all residents of Tuscany to choose a new name for the virtual assistant, replacing the current “Chiedilo a Me” label.
