Èno Florence Wine Excellence debuts at Fortezza da Basso

A new international wine event is set to make its debut in Florence. On Sunday 21 and Monday 22 September, the Fortezza da Basso will host the first edition of Èno Florence Wine Excellence, a two-day showcase dedicated to the world of wine.

The event brings together 230 Italian and international wineries presenting more than 900 labels for tasting. It combines free and guided tastings, masterclasses, workshops, and networking opportunities. Sunday is open to the public, while Monday is reserved for hospitality and trade professionals.

Èno Florence Wine Excellence is promoted by a group of leading Florentine entrepreneurs in the wine and food sectors, including Betawine, Tagliafraschi e Associati, Vintage 04, Doppia G Selezione and Andrea Vannini Rappresentanze. Their aim is to create an immersive event where producers and wine lovers can meet directly, discover new vintages, and deepen their knowledge of wine culture.

An international stage in Florence

The program highlights Tuscany’s leading role, with 93 local producers, but also includes wineries from Piedmont, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige, Sicily, Sardinia, and other Italian regions. A strong international presence is ensured by 35 foreign exhibitors, including Champagne maisons and vignerons.

The initiative is supported by the Municipality and Metropolitan City of Florence, the Chamber of Commerce, Vetrina Toscana, and the National Association of Wine Cities. Organizers hope the event will establish Florence as a prestigious reference point for the Italian and international wine scene.

Masterclasses with experts

A series of masterclasses will take place in the Polveriera of the Fortezza da Basso, led by renowned sommeliers and experts such as Armando Castagno, Leonardo Romanelli, Andrea Gori, Francesco Saverio Russo, and Bernardo Conticelli. Each session is dedicated to specific territories, grape varieties, and vintages, offering participants a chance to engage in guided tastings and professional training.

Food and networking

Alongside the tastings, visitors will find street food stands and a dedicated restaurant inside the exhibition area. For trade professionals, access is free upon registration, with a special tasting kit included.

With its mix of expertise, conviviality, and international outlook, Èno Florence Wine Excellence promises to become a new highlight in Florence’s cultural and gastronomic calendar.
