There is an actress who reminds me of the beautiful Helen of Troy. Whenever I think of what the mythical Elena would have been, it always her that comes to mind, even if Homer did us the favour of leaving the face of this woman to our total imagination because she is not described in any part of the Iliad and the Odyssey. The absolute beauty, about which there is no doubt.
Today, looking at my social networks, I saw a video of this actress, using Instagram filters. This image made me reflect. I thought that beauty today, the natural and universal one, is no longer enough. On social media we have reached a point where we admire and believe in something that does not exist.
In the last year we have been at home a lot and often our only external reality has been social media. This has amplified even more the perception of a parallel reality, which only exists virtually, so it can happen that looking at the social profiles you can imagine yourself surrounded by people different from those you meet in real life.
I am not against aesthetic changes, each of us should feel free to do what makes him feel beautiful, but what happens when our models are not real? A writer once said that there is no greater misery than trying to reach, trying to become something unreachable.
Here are instagram profiles that respect real beauty: bodyposipanda, danaemercer, ashleygraham, hayleymadigan.
