FLORENCE, ITALY – Premier Matteo Renzi announced that Italy will host the 2017 G7 summit in Sicily.
«I write to you while I fly to Japan for the (2016) G7,» Renzi said in his e-news. «The Japanese presidency has put many issues on the agenda, as it waits to pass the baton to Italy, which will organise the 2017 event in Sicily». The event will probably be held in Taormina.
Two years ago, when Renzi left Florence for Rome, he promised the Florentines that their city would host the G7. The international political issue of migrants has changed his mind and now the Italian premier will bring the «great of the earth» a few kilometers from the migrants landings coast.
