The shops in the mall I Gigli will open on Sundays and public holidays from October 30 to December 24. The calendar was made official after an agreement with unions.
For workers will be guaranteed two days off in addition to normal holidays shifts under employment contracts. But the president of the consortium I Gigli Franco Malinconi wants to do something more in the coming years: “Open 52 Sundays a year is too much even for businesses, but some more Sundays of shopping are possibile. The number of Sundays you can shop depends by Regione Toscana and I know the governor Rossi is reluctant to increase them, but more sundays means more benefits for employment and consumers”.
Malinconi sayd that I Gigli Shopping Centre is the second economic center of Tuscany, after the Piaggio, with 1700 employees and more than 14 million visitors a year. Under the new law, extend the number of Sunday shopping will be possible only in the tourist towns. “The mayor of Campi Bisenzio (Tuscany)- said Malinconi – applied the tourism tax as is common cities in tourism, this could allow the expansion of Sunday openings. But it is a political choice”.
