The Medici Villas were summer residences, places to rest, go hunting and have leisure time. They were all painted in lunette form by Flemish painter Giusto (Iustus) Utens, entrusted by Ferdinando I de’ Medici at the end of the sixteenth century. Seventeen lunettes have been painted, 14 of which have been collected and hosted in the Museum of Florence as it was, so far.

Best of Wine Tourism 2012: the winners
At the hall of the Palazzo Medici Riccardi Pistelli took the award ceremony of winners of the international Best of Wine Tourism 2012, now in its 9 th edition. It is the promoter of the Great Wine Capitals global network which includes nine cities in the world with a strong viticulture: Florence, Bordeaux, Bilbao, Christchurch, Cape Town, Mainz, Mendoza, Porto and San Francisco-Napa Valley.
