Around 100 people took part in a protest in central Florence on Friday 27 March 2026, joining a coordinated international mobilisation under the slogan “No Kings, No Wars, No ICE”. The demonstration, organised by local groups including Women’s March Florence and a network of US citizens living in Italy, took place in via de’ Gondi, a street just behind Palazzo Vecchio.
Participants displayed banners and placards criticising war, US domestic and foreign policy, and immigration enforcement practices. Some wore yellow T-shirts featuring a crossed-out crown and the words “No Kings”. Leaflets were distributed to passers-by, including tourists and residents in the busy historic centre.
Organisers said the Florence initiative was part of a wider day of action involving hundreds of thousands of demonstrations across the United States, as well as events in several European cities. The protest in Florence was relatively small but visibly connected to this broader mobilisation.
According to participants, the rally aimed to express opposition to current US political leadership, particularly on issues related to democratic institutions, economic policy and international relations. Demonstrators also criticised the role of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the US federal agency responsible for immigration controls.
Some protesters highlighted concerns about travel to the United States, referring to reports of increased checks and detentions at borders. Others focused on economic inequality and what they described as policies favouring wealthy individuals.
The demonstration took place without incidents and did not significantly affect traffic or access to nearby landmarks such as Piazza della Signoria, one of Florence’s main tourist areas.
