Negroni Week 2025: The World Raises a Glass to Florence’s Iconic Cocktail

Negroni Week 2025: The World Raises a Glass to Florence’s Iconic Cocktail

From September 22 to 28, 2025, bars and restaurants across the globe will once again celebrate Negroni Week, the international event dedicated to one of the world’s most beloved cocktails. Organized by Imbibe magazine and Campari, the week is both a tribute to the timeless drink and a fundraising initiative supporting Slow Food, with proceeds going to projects promoting sustainability, education, and equity in food and hospitality.

The Negroni was born in Florence in 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked bartender Fosco Scarselli to fortify his Americano by replacing soda water with gin. The simple yet brilliant balance of gin, bitter, and red vermouth soon became an Italian classic and has since conquered cocktail lists worldwide. More than a century later, it is still ranked as the world’s best-selling classic cocktail, ahead of the Margarita and the Old Fashioned.

A Global Celebration with Florentine Roots

Negroni Week is now a worldwide phenomenon, with events and tastings taking place from New York to Los Angeles, Chicago to Portland, Vancouver to Melbourne, Bangkok to Tokyo, Sydney to Hong Kong, and from Paris and London to Latin America and beyond. Cities like Toronto, Washington DC, Atlanta, Denver, Lima, Kuala Lumpur, Bali, Stockholm, and Nashville will also join the celebration.

For Florence, where the Negroni was created, the week carries special meaning. Dozens of local bars are taking part, offering both classic Negronis and creative reinterpretations. Among the participating venues in the city center are Terrazza Rodo13 Nero in Via dei Calzaiuoli, Colle Bereto in Piazza Strozzi, Fede Cocktailab in Piazza Mentana, Moyo in Via dei Benci, Giacosa in Via della Spada, Caffè Amerini in Via della Vigna Nuova, and Santa Cocktail Barin Piazza Santa Maria Novella.

Other well-known Florentine cocktail spots such as Volume in Santo Spirito, Dragonfly in Piazza Salvemini, Rifrullo in San Niccolò, i Macci in Largo Annigoni, The Lodge, and hotel bars like Hotel IndigoSina Villa Medici, and The Hoxton will also be raising their glasses. Beyond Florence, Tuscany joins the celebration with venues in Prato, Quarrata, Dicomano, Certaldo, Pistoia, Montecatini Terme, and more.

A Toast to Tradition and Innovation

The enduring appeal of the Negroni lies in its versatility. While the original three-part recipe remains iconic, bartenders worldwide continue to experiment with variations — from barrel-aged versions to lighter twists featuring sparkling wine or unexpected infusions. Negroni Week highlights this creative spirit, while keeping the heart of the cocktail intact.

For one week in September, Florence’s invention once again becomes a global language of hospitality, uniting drinkers across continents in a toast to Italian tradition and contemporary creativity.

All participating venues are listed on the official website.
