Lucio Corsi Reaches Fifth Place at Eurovision 2025

Tuscany’s own Lucio Corsi, a singer-songwriter from Grosseto, proudly represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, earning a remarkable fifth place in the Grand Final held at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland.

Corsi performed Volevo essere un duro (“I Wanted to Be Tough”), a glam-rock-inspired song co-written with Tommaso Ottomano. The track explores the contrast between the desire to appear strong and the courage to embrace one’s vulnerability. Its lyrics deliver a powerful message about authenticity and self-acceptance.

Corsi was selected to represent Italy after finishing second at the 2025 Sanremo Music Festival, where he also won the prestigious Mia Martini Critics’ Award. Following the withdrawal of Sanremo winner Olly, who declined the Eurovision invitation due to other commitments, Corsi was chosen by RAI as Italy’s official representative.

His performance in Basel stood out for its theatrical staging and emotional intensity, capturing the attention of both the jury and the audience. Subtitled in English for international viewers, the song’s universal message resonated widely, earning Corsi a total of 256 points.

In a surprise moment during the live performance, Corsi was joined on stage by Tommaso Ottomano, who co-wrote the song with him. Also from Tuscany, Ottomano appeared as a guest performer, adding depth to the final chorus and highlighting the strong creative partnership between the two artists. Their on-stage chemistry and shared roots in the Maremma region added an emotional layer to a performance already praised for its authenticity and artistic vision.

The 2025 contest was won by JJ from Austria with the song Wasted Love, while Corsi’s fifth-place finish continues Italy’s strong tradition at Eurovision.

Lucio Corsi’s success not only strengthens his career on the international stage but also shines a spotlight on the contemporary music scene of Tuscany. He is now preparing for a new tour across Italy, where fans old and new will have the chance to experience his original and poetic artistry live.
