Conclave is a 2024 political thriller film directed by Edward Berger

Florence’s Craftsmanship at the Oscars

The craftsmanship of Florence will be showcased on one of the world’s most prestigious stages, as the 97th Academy Awards take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Among this year’s nominees for Best Costume Design is Conclave, directed by Edward Berger. The film, which has garnered eight Oscar nominations and twelve BAFTA nods, owes part of its visual allure to Florence’s own Bottega Orafa Paolo Penko.

The renowned goldsmith studio handcrafted 530 bespoke pieces, ranging from cardinal crosses to rings and cufflinks, specifically for the movie. These creations were developed in close collaboration with costume designer Lisy Christl, herself a previous Oscar nominee for Anonymous. Christl’s meticulous vision guided the integration of these intricate accessories into the costumes, adding layers of depth to the characters and enriching the film’s atmosphere.
