FAI Spring Days: guided tours in the most beautiful places in Italy. Where to go in Tuscany

FLORENCE, ITALY – The FAI Spring Days (Le Giornate Fai di Primavera) are back on May 15 and 16, 2021. Over 600 places will be open throughout Italy.

The FAI Days are an opportunity to visit the cultural heritage of Italy and a great moment of meeting between the FAI and the lovers of Italian culture. To book and take part in the initiative, a minimum contribution of € 3 is required. Those who wish can further support the FAI with higher contributions or through the annual registration – which can be subscribed online or in the square during the event – or by sending a solidarity text message to the number 45586, active from 6 to May 23, 2021.

Reggello (FI)

  • Castello di Sammezzano

Closed to visitors since 2016, it will open exceptionally for the FAI Spring Days 2021. During the FAI Spring Days, visitors will walk through the park and visit the main floor of the castle with its spectacular rooms. Opening: Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May, from 9.30 to 17.

Florence

  • TSH Firenze: Street Art a Palazzo – The Student Hotel

The building is in viale Spartaco Lavagnini, disegned by Giuseppe Poggi in the second half of the nineteenth century, at that time Florence was the capital of Italy. Opening: Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May, from 10 to 17

Signa (FI)

  • Villa Castelleti

Villa Castelletti stands on the hill of Signa, in an isolated position, about 10 km from the center of Florence. Opening: Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May, from 10 to 17.

Follonica (GR)

  • The Factory Town of Follonica (La Città Fabbrica di Follonica)

Follonica for centuries had the identity of a “city-factory”,built in 1831 by Grand Duke Leopold II for the processing of minerals extracted from the Island of Elba. Opening: Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May, from 10 to 17.

Massa

  • Centoporte train (Treno Centoporte)

During the Second World War some “Centoporte” carriages were transformed into hospital carriages for the transport of the wounded, the hospital trains, over 40, were used in the campaigns of Greece, Albania, Yugoslavia and Russia. Opening: Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May, from 10 to 17.30

Cantagallo (PO)

  • Fabrica “Beste”

Beste is a fabric factory that designs and produces fabrics and clothing aiming for maximum energy efficiency to reduce the impact on the environment and maximize the resulting value for the territory. Opening: Saturday 15 May, from 10.30 to 17.

Montecatini (PT)

  • Waiting rooms and the old Station office room (Sale d’aspetto e sala ufficio Stazione Vecchia)

Inaugurated on August 4, 1937, the Montecatini train station represents one of the most important architectures of Tuscan and Italian Rationalism. Opening: Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May, from 9.30 to 18.

Volterra (PI)

  • The Guardiola

On the occasion of the FAI Days, a short itinerary in the most fascinating corners of Volterra and Borgo San Giusto. Opening: Sunday 16 May, from 9.30 to 17.30.

Pisa

  • Basilica di San Pietro in Grado

The Basilica of San Pietro Apostolo, 4 kilometres from Pisa, in Christian times was called “di San Piero a Grado”. Opening: Saturday 15 May, from 9.30 to 16.

Livorno

  • Acquedotto Leopoldino

The path of water in the Livorno countryside I Bagnetti della Puzzolente are located in Livorno and are the remains of a 19th century spa facility. Opening: Saturday 15 May, from 12 to 18.30; Sunday 16 May, from 10 to 18.15.

Radicondoli (SI)

Radicondoli is an ancient village located on the northern side of the Metalliferous Hills, between the Valdelsa and the Val di Cecina. Opening: Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May, from 10 to 17.30.

Arezzo

  • Le vie dell’aqua

Although is almost unknown, Arezzo also has its own river, the Castro, today is no longer visible to the eyes of the people of Arezzo who walk over its underground waters every day.
