FLORENCE, ITALY – Left-wing Tuscany regional councillor Tommaso Fattori said Monday he will grow a cannabis plant in his office to open a discussion on the legalization of cannabis and support its therapeutic use as envisaged under a regional law approved in 2012.
«In Italy, we are further behind than in the rest of the civilized world where anti-prohibitionism goes forward and the first step is the therapeutic use of cannabis, said Fattori -. We will make this a central point to make the Tuscan law effective».
«I have decided to take a seed and plant it, from next week, in a vase on my desk in the Regional Council,” he said. Fattoris added that he knew he would be breaking the law “but I want to do it in the name of a battle for civilisation». (Source: ANSA)
