Lazio vs. Fiorentina, one goal is enough for the visitors

FLORENCE, ITALY – Lazio claimed their second straight Serie A victory with a 1-0 win over Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Lazio got the only goal of the game after just five minutes as Lorik Cana fired home from a corner kick, blasting his effort inside the right post. Fiorentina played for half an hour without ideas and proves quite fragile in defense.

Massimo Ambrosini was denied a penalty after a blatant dive in the box. Manuel Pasqual’s free kick across the face of goal failed to reach Gonzalo Rodríguez and Joaquín Sánchez sent a deflected effort high and wide.

After the restart, Juan Cuadrado ran at goal and pulled back for Joaquin, but the Spaniard couldn’t keep his shot down. Montella made a double change, bringing on Anderson and Mario Gómez.

Fiorentina had the chance to net a leveller late in the match with two great chances from Anderson and one from Fernandez but despite their efforts, Lazio went home with maximum points.

Fiorentina failed to take advantage of Napoli dropping points and fall seven points behind the third and final Champions League slot.
