The Italian elections explained to Americans

FLORENCE, ITALY – Villa La Pietra  Dialogues will present “Italian Elections: Looking Forward Film and Lecture Series” with Roberto D’Alimonte,Professor of Political Science at LUISS-Guido Carli Rome and NYU Florence and Columnist for Il Sole 24 Ore.

LPD will unlock the complexities of the Italian political system during the 2013 Italian elections.

It kicks off with an introduction to Italian politics by NYU Florence professors outlining the Italian party structure, key political figures as well as the electoral system, followed by a selection of contemporary Italian films that explore different facets of Italian politics, as part of the Cinema Giovane series. Film screenings will be followed by a Q&A with people involved in the production of the films.

On Election day La Pietra Dialogues will host an election results watching party for Italian and American students moderated by elections experts. The series concludes with the Italian Post Elections Analysis conference organized with the University of Florence and the University of Bologna that will bring international political analysts, media experts and scholars together to analyze the results and to discuss their implications.
