Harvard brings in Florence the “Missa Florentina”

San Lorenzo (Sailko)Will be performed for the first time in six hundred years, in extended version, the “Missa Florentina”, a liturgy composed entirely of fourteenth-century by Florentine authors.

The Mass will be celebrated by the Archbishop of Florence, Giuseppe Betori, in the basilica of San Lorenzo in the day of Epiphany, January 6 at 11 am. The liturgy provides special music prepared by musicologist Francesco Zimei, a scholar of late medieval Italian music, with particular regard to the repertoire of Florence.

The initiative is carried out under the auspices of The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies.
