FLORENCE, ITALY – Kerry Kennedy returned to Florence on November 22nd 2012 to hold a press conference to explain an exciting new partnership between the Robert. F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights and the Teatro dell’Opera di Firenze. This marks the first time the RFK Center has collaborated with a theater.
During the press conference, Kennedy explained the motivation behind the new relationship. She claimed that that this alliance would help bring together both cultural and human rights. She noted how the RFK Center is actively working to expel a universal problem and that the theater can help provide a solution with the universal language of music.
Together, from November 22nd – November 25th, they hosted an event called “RFK Thanksgiving Weekend” to support and promote the activities of the RFK Center in Florence. The event showcased the opera Turnadot by Giacomo Pucci preformed by l’Orchestra del Maggio Musicale under the direction of Maestro Zubin Mehta.
