FLORENCE, ITALY – More than 2,000 experts from around the world are to meet in Florence, Italy to discuss the latest developments in cancer and cervical papillomavirus research. Florence Convention Bureau, in collaboration with Firenze Fiera, will host the 2013 edition of Eurogin to be held from 03-05 November.
Eurogin is a major international forum for cervical cancer and papillomavirus experts, organised by its Paris-based association and chaired by Dr Raphael Monsonego. “Competition from other international destinations was very strong,” said Carlotta Ferrari, the director of the Florence Convention Bureau.
“FCB contacted with the Eurogin association last February, after a careful analysis of French associations.” President of FCB and provincial councillor for tourism Giacomo Billi said: “Congress tourism is a sector that continues to expand and that can contribute considerably to the economic growth of our city.
“Worldwide, every year there are about 510,000 reported cases of cervical cancer, which thus becomes the second leading cause of cancer death for women. However, cervical cancer is treatable and often is curable if identified in the early stages of development. The congress will therefore accelerate the transformation of scientific discoveries into everyday medical practice.”
