It is thought at least five people have died after the Costa Concordia cruise ship ran aground on the Italian coast friday night. 17 people are stille missing, the operation of recovery is going on.

17 people were on board the Costa Concordia still missing, according to the announce of Costa Crociere during the summit with local authoritues that was held this afternoon at the prefecture in Grosseto.
The U.S. Embassy in Italy stated that there were 120 Americans on board the ship Costa Concordia. It stated that “118 people” have been contacted so far, 2 left. Other sources report that two pairs of French still missing.
At the moment there is no oil spill pollution. But the risks are related to changing weather conditions. It needs at least two weeks to remove the fuel from the tanks.
