Italy removes masks on June 28

FLORENCE, ITALY – From June 28 in the white zones in Italy is no longer mandatory to wear a mask outdoors. After the research of the Scientific Technical Committee, the confirmation comes from the Italian Minister of Health Roberto Speranza: “The obligation will be overcome, always in compliance with the precautionary indications of the CTS”

On the 28th, the Aosta Valley region will enter in the white zone, consequently the whole country will be at the minimum risk level. However, leaving some rules and restrictions to prevent infections from Covid-19 returning back.

Outdoors

During yesterday afternoon’s discussion, scientists agreed that there is a low circulation of the virus when people are outdoors and for this reason they had no doubts about the decision to remove the mask as early as next week. On Friday, the Higher Institute of Health will review the new weekly monitoring. If there are no particular criticalities, the green light will come with a government decree.

Rules

The use would remain “strongly recommended” to frail and immunosuppressed people “and those around them”. The mask, on the other hand, must always be worn in healthcare environments and in public transport. As for shops, indoor restaurants and the entertainment sector, for the CTS, “the provisions and protocols established for the safety in economy, productive and recreational activities must be respected”
