“The goal of the Florence Airport is to reach two million passengers in 2012”, has announced Biagio Marinò, CEO of ADF, the Florence airport management company, inaugurating the new terminal of the airport. “We expect 2012 positive – Marinò said -, but not as much as 2011. We expect to close around two million passengers. Although revenues are growing, but will grow less than 2011.”
Marinò said that “2011 will close with more than 1.9 million passengers, an increase of about 10% compared to last year. We have significant limitations, about 400 flights are diverted each year, with large inconvenience to passengers.” The CEO of the company has added that ”there are difficulties due to the crisis, and remains the problem of the loss of Meridiana, we’re still trying to cover their routes.”
In this regard, Marinò has reiterated that the talks with Vueling to Madrid to restore the connection is being closed, while the link with London operated in the ‘code sharing’ with British Airways will remain active at least until the end of March.
