Aquilani spent his first hours in Florence

Alberto AquilaniFLORENCE, ITALY – Alberto Aquilani spent his first hours as Fiorentina player undergoing medicals, signing his new contract and shaking hands with Fiorentina directors.

In the fact, ACF Fiorentina signed Italy midfielder Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool on Friday.

Aquilani, 28, joined Liverpool in the summer of 2009 on a five-year contract, but has spent the last two seasons on loan at Juventus and AC Milan. He played just 28 matches for Liverpool.

Aquilani enjoyed successful spells with Juve and Milan, combining to make 55 appearances over the last two seasons.

Fiorentina also added defender Gonzalo Rodriguez and midfielder Borja Valero from Villarreal. Rodriguez has yet to agree to terms of his deal, but Valero – capped once for Spain – has signed a four-year deal.
