Palazzo Strozzi is preparing to relaunch the bistro in its central courtyard with a new concept developed by Tommaso Mazzanti, CEO of the well-known Florentine food brand All’Antico Vinaio.
The new venue is expected to open at the end of September 2026, following a selection process launched by Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi for the management and redesign of the courtyard’s food and beverage space.
Rather than replicating the format that made All’Antico Vinaio internationally known, Mazzanti has developed a separate concept specifically for Palazzo Strozzi and its mix of museum visitors, local residents and international audiences.
The bistro will operate throughout the day, from breakfast and lunch to the traditional Italian aperitivo. Its menu will draw on Tuscan and Italian cuisine while presenting it in a more contemporary form, with an emphasis on selected ingredients and dishes designed to be enjoyed on site rather than primarily as takeaway food.
The aim is also to strengthen the role of Palazzo Strozzi’s Renaissance courtyard as a place where people can spend time independently of a visit to an exhibition.
Located between Piazza Strozzi and Via Tornabuoni, the courtyard is freely accessible during the palace’s opening hours and has increasingly become part of Palazzo Strozzi’s identity as a public space in the historic centre of Florence.
The new bistro will therefore form part of a broader attempt to make the building not only an exhibition venue but also a meeting place open to different audiences throughout the day.
