Siena is set to host the first major food and wine event of the year: the 10th edition of Wine&Siena. From January 25 to 27, 2025, the historic Santa Maria della Scala complex will welcome over 150 Italian producers, showcasing the best in wine, food, spirits, and beer. This prestigious event is curated by Helmuth Köcher, the founder of Merano WineFestival, and is rooted in the excellence of The WineHunter Guide, which annually celebrates top-quality producers.

The 2025 edition promises a vibrant lineup of masterclasses, seminars, and events highlighting food and sustainability. For a broader audience, the Fuori Wine&Siena program offers unique opportunities to experience culinary and beverage delights through guided activities and discussions.

The Program: A Celebration of Taste

Wine&Siena 2025 begins with a grand opening on Friday, January 24, at 8:00 PM in the Santa Maria della Scala complex. Following an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Palazzo del Comune in Piazza del Campo, attendees can indulge in the Small Plates Dinner. This exquisite dining experience pairs traditional Sienese dishes with fine wines presented by select exhibitors.

On Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, January 26, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the doors of Santa Maria della Scala open to food and wine enthusiasts. Under its frescoed ceilings, visitors can explore and taste products from over 150 exhibitors, including wine, food, spirits, and beer. Additional highlights include the Extrawine section and stands from various consortia.

A standout event takes place on Sunday, January 26, with a gala dinner at the historic Imperiale Contrada della Giraffa. This dinner commemorates Andrea Vanni, the co-creator of Wine&Siena, alongside Stefano Bernardini, president of Confcommercio. Vanni’s legacy continues to inspire the event following his passing in 2021. The final day, Monday, January 27, is dedicated to industry professionals and media representatives.

Masterclasses and Seminars

Santa Maria della Scala’s seventh floor, known as the Sala del Gusto, will host masterclasses and seminars on January 25 and 26. Saturday’s sessions focus on Italy’s sparkling wines, late-harvest and dessert wines, and seven iconic Tuscan red wines. Sunday offers tastings of seven premium white wines, with an emphasis on amphora aging and Pinot Noir. Two seminars delve into olive oil and brandy, scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 PM and Sunday, respectively.

Fuori Wine&Siena: A Broader Experience

The Fuori Wine&Siena program enriches the experience with four “AsSaggi di vino” events, blending wine with art, geology, and astronomy. These sessions are organized by Confcommercio Siena, in collaboration with the Arezzo Siena Chamber of Commerce and the University of Siena. Highlights include:

Cultural activities complement the gastronomic focus. On Saturday, January 25, guided tours of Palazzo Sansedoni will reveal the rich history and art collection of this remarkable site, home to the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation.
