Although the principal link between the areas covered by the itineraries is therefore wine, these zones are also renowned for their fresh farm produce and fine extra virgin olive oil, and the region as a whole has a rich culinary and gastronomic tradition.
There are three wine trails in the province of Florence: the Strada del Vino Chianti Colli Fiorentini, which winds its way east to west through 18 municipalities around Florence; the Strada dei Vini Chianti Rufina e Pomino, which covers the more geographically limited area of the Montagna Fiorentina; and the Strada del Vino di Montespertoli. The latest one is the Strada dell’Olio e del Vino Montalbano, related also to the important extra-virgin olive oil production. It includes the territory of Capraia and Limite sull’Arno, Cerreto Guidi and Vinci, then in the province of Pistoia.
