Pitti Bimbo trends: elegance and rock’n’roll

Pitti bimbo (Michelsanti)Pitti Bimbo n. 74 is now open in Florence, Italy at Fortezza da Basso until January 21, 2012. Look the fashion trends for babies.

New words in kids’ elegance

Elegance and tradition are revisited in a contemporary key and adapted to the world of children, with an eye on “adult” fashion trends. Wardrobes are filled with versatile clothes, suitable for any occasion: from the schoolroom to the gym, from play time to party time.

Mixing & matching produces a whirl of eclectic, quick-change items: maxi-cardigans that hide faux-dresses, amusing eco-furs that become tech-parkas, mini-dresses that look like two-piece outfits, and trompe l’oeil prints.

All counterbalanced by romantic details: cloud-like tulle embroideries, rhinestone stars, airy georgette, soft silk to warm the coldest winters and tweed coats with a very sartorial look.

There are heavy patterned and cable knits, sheepskin, fur capes and vests combined with cheerful floral shifts and sparkling ethereal tulle skirts. The must-haves include last generation duffle coats, in new shapes and materials, often lined with eco-fur, and fleece parkas.

Rock’n’roll sportswear

An amusing Brit-style look inspired by the lively, cosmopolitan and joyful London of the King’s Road and Piccadilly Circus. A rock ’n’ roll feel for a look that combines t-shirts printed to look like lumberjack shirts and tight worn-look jeans, accompanied by brogues and Chelsea boots on the feet.

Pure Anglo-style soft leather jackets and heavy sweaters in bright reds, regal blues and dark greens. New versions of the duffle coat in Melton wool with lots of detail for the boys and short 60s style eco-leather jackets for the girls. Elegantly cut jackets combined with vintage-style pieces and accessories. Plus the old regulars: combed or raised wools, warm flannels, classic tweeds, tartans and the more masculine herringbones. Velvet is one of the season’s key fabrics.

Today’s kids should never be without: luxury down jackets with fur trimmings, shearling vests with denim jackets and elegant burgundy velvet jackets.

Here come the eco-babies

Even softer organic materials from the producers of clothing, accessories and infants’ underwear who are focusing on eco-friendly products. The babies’ knitwear for the fall/winter 2012/2013 loves pure 100% merino wool that is used to create Nordic style cabling or even softer, precious garments – silk, merino, hyper soft organic cotton – for the first few months of life.
