The new system has been installed at Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport and Pisa’s Galileo Galilei Airport, both managed by Toscana Aeroporti, the company operating Tuscany’s two main international airports.
The initiative includes interactive totems equipped with Tradooko’s communication software in key areas of the terminals, including information desks and assistance areas. The technology allows passengers to communicate more easily with airport staff, helping travellers who are deaf or who face language barriers.
According to Toscana Aeroporti, the software currently supports 29 languages and is designed to provide more accessible access to airport information and assistance services. Airport staff can use the system to support passengers throughout their time inside the terminals.
The project is part of broader European efforts to improve accessibility in public transport and passenger services. Toscana Aeroporti said the programme represents another step in making Florence and Pisa airports more inclusive and accessible.
The two Tuscan airports are the first in Italy to adopt Tradooko’s inclusive communication system. Tradooko is a startup based in Florence that develops technological tools focused on accessible and multilingual communication.
