Radar failure causes flight delays and diversions at Pisa and Florence airports

A radar system failure affecting air traffic across northern and central Italy is also causing disruptions at Tuscany’s two main airports, in Florence and Pisa. Passengers departing from the Vespucci Airport in Florence and the Galilei Airport in Pisa are experiencing delays and irregularities in flight schedules, including cancellations and diversions.

Toscana Aeroporti, the company managing both airports, has issued a warning to travelers, advising them to check directly with their airlines for the latest information regarding their flights.

According to initial reports, some passengers are currently stranded in both airports, while several flights originally bound for Milan Malpensa, Linate, and Turin Caselle have been redirected to Pisa and Florence.

Toscana Aeroporti is currently coordinating passenger assistance services to support those affected by the disruption. The full extent and duration of the radar-related issue remain unclear.
